RESILIENCE
Rethinking the energy transition: Scaling the production of innovative, reversible, highly efficient, and carbon-negative power plants
At Reverion, we are revolutionizing electricity generation from biogas. As part of our RESILIENCE project, we are scaling the production of our modular, container-based power plants based on reversible solid oxide cell (rSOC) technology. These state-of-the-art systems offer exceptional efficiency and flexibility: They generate clean electricity when needed and switch to green gas production mode within a very short time when not needed.
Our power plants are designed to modernize existing biogas plants or operate new ones – with significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions. During electricity generation, the CO₂ is captured from the biogas. This enables CO₂ capture for use or storage – with the potential for negative emissions.
Conventional biogas systems with combustion engines waste a large portion of the energy they generate. Our solution fundamentally changes this. Thanks to our reversible system design, our plants operate continuously and intelligently – they adapt in real time to the requirements of the power grid.
To meet growing demand, we are expanding our production facility in Eresing, Germany. This expansion – financed by the European Innovation Fund – includes new assembly lines, test areas, and specially designed zones for component manufacturing. This will increase our production capacity, strengthen regional supply chains, and create new jobs – both at Reverion and at our partners.
Thousands of biogas plants are already in operation in Europe – the potential for retrofitting is enormous. With RESILIENCE, we are making an important contribution to Europe’s path to climate neutrality – with a smarter, cleaner, and more efficient future for biogas energy.
About the Innovation Fund
The European Innovation Fund supports the implementation of innovative projects that have a positive impact on the European economy and contribute to achieving climate goals. With its funding, the Fund supports companies whose technologies make a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Through financial resources, the Innovation Fund enables the scaling and market launch of products that drive the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
